Noose adventures in virtual reality

I can't be called an early adopter (of anything, really), but I recently became involved in Second Life, the virtual reality platform that's been around for about thirteen years now. I created my "avatar" in late November, 2015, and started bumbling around the world, finding new sights and things to buy along the way. I did this largely under the tutelage of one of my long-time online noose buddies.

Last week, he told me about a dungeon in Second Life that he knew of that had a large selection of torture and execution devices. Now I'm totally addicted to this area. Though all of the machines here are intended for operation by an executioner/torturer upon a victim, many of them are operable by a solo player. What seals it for me is, there are four gallows on the main level, plus a four-person gallows on an outdoors level.

And the first night there, it was late, and I had the place to myself for a long time. Trouble was gotten into.

I've developed a routine where, if no one's around, I do a hanging suicide, and just wait around, twisting and spinning, until someone comes by. Then we see what happens.

None of these machines is fatal to my avatar. Well, not permanently fatal. When I'm done, I stop the script that's running, and then I am back to normal. It's the same when someone does the torture or snuff to another. At the end, they put away any ancillary objects they used, and then move on to something else. Obviously, this is better than snuffing it in real life.

Yeah, it's not completely realistic. It's a lot closer than I could've imagined a couple of weeks ago. It has been very, um, exciting. And it's safe. Well, to me, maybe not my avatar. He's not complaining, so I guess I don't have to care.
